Our commitment
This website is designed to meet the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW 3.0) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
Conformance status
This website has not yet been audited independently. Until it has, we describe it as designed to these standards, not certified against them. During development every page is checked with automated accessibility tools, which find many — but not all — barriers.
What we have done
- A “Skip to main content” link, landmarks and a logical heading order on every page.
- Text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Every control works with a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator.
- Text colours chosen for at least 4.5:1 contrast.
- Layouts that reflow on small screens and at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
- Labelled form fields, with errors described in text and announced to screen readers.
- Animation reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Pages that are readable without JavaScript.
Known limitations
- The website is in English only. A Hindi version is not yet available.
- Some links lead to services run by other offices — such as the alumni portal and the guest house booking system — which may not meet the same standards.
Feedback and contact
If you find a barrier, or need information in a different format, please tell us. Choose “Accessibility feedback” in the contact form, email dora.office@iitr.ac.in or call +91-1332-285840. Tell us the page address and the problem you found.
Technical information
The website relies on HTML, CSS and WAI-ARIA. JavaScript adds enhancements, such as animation and inline form feedback, but is not required to read the content or send a form.
